I read this morning that CM Newton had died at 88. I remember seeing him outside Memorial when I was camping out for Madness tickets and someone in the crowd had commented about him being 73, he said: "I'm a young 73 though". I was standing about 15 feet away from him when he said that and will never forget it. I always thought he was a good man and good for college basketball. May he rest in peace.

Overall, I'd give C.M. an "A". The only issue I have with C.M. is, in my opinion, he was too loyal to Bill Curry. After several years of coach Curry's floundering around, the fans had had all they could take and were up in arms. C.M. made the comment that if the fans didn't like the way things were, they should find another team to pull for. I think A.D.'s and coaches sometimes forget that w/o the fans they wouldn't have jobs.

Sometimes they do forget about us, don't they?

Sometimes they do forget about us, don't they? They do indeed. I guess coach Cal is one of the most fan appreciative coaches I've ever known.
