UCLA offered Cal 48 million dollars for 6 years. UK then offered Cal a lifetime contract like Duke did Coach K. Looks like we might have him for a while. GO CATS!

I think this is more to remind Cal how much UK thinks of him, and to scare other schools off as well. Unless something unthinkable happens, he was going to be at UK for as long as he wanted anyway.

I agree but you never know. I don't know if you watch the Paul Finebaum show but they were talking about Cal's new contract and kind of rolled their eyes about it saying that Spurrier had a lifetime contract at Florida and one at South Carolina as well. I do believe Cal wants to end his career here but you never know. He may still have an itch to coach some of his ex-players in the NBA one day.

I kind of take contracts with a grain of salt. If a coach wants to leave badly enough he'll leave contract or no contract.

I agree with you. To me, it seems more of a thing to keep the wolves away I guess and show a lot of want for the coach as well.
