Before we go to far, I guess I should tell a little about myself.
My wife and I were married because the Wildcats won the ‘96 championship. I know that seems silly (and it is) but I knew my woman wanted to get married but had never had pressured me. I thought if I proposed to her with the conditions that if the Wildcats won, it was a sure thing. Well, they won and we were married on 9/6/96. We were married just outside Rupp arena with channel 27 and 18 both filming the wedding. Rick Pitino sent us a bottle of champagne and a note of congrats. I wore a pair of denim Converse basketball shoes which were later signed by Pitino and the team. Everyone was dressed in blue and white and we held the wedding dinner and festivities at de Shae’s. My wedding ring has five blue sapphires representing Rupp’s and Hall’s championships and a diamond for Pitino’s ‘96 championship. Since then we have become a fixture camped outside Memorial Coliseum come Madness time.
