FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles has agreed to extend the contract of basketball coach Stan Heath by one year. Heath's team lost five of its final six games last season to finish 18-12 and Heath turned down a bid to the National Invitational Tournament. The one-year extension keeps Heath under contract through April 30, 2010. The extension is important for recruiting because it indicates a coach will be on hand for the length of a recruit's tenure. Bubba, I think it can be looked at either way. I am not a huge fan of Stan Heath and to be honest with you think that he kind of lucked into this job. He had one great year at Kent State and parlayed that into the Arkansas job after the Nolan Richardson situation. I think Arkansas with their tradition and facilities can do much better for a coach!
