We all knew Virginia was going to win because it would be a feel good story. Seriously though, Virginia played some serious defense and their offense was pretty doggone good. Texas Tech hung with them and could have pulled the upset if Virginia hadn't hit that 3 near the end of the game. A very fun game to watch until near the end of OT and that's when things went Virginia's way. If we had beat Auburn, I don't think we could have beaten either team but you never know. Everyone was ready to hand Duke the trophy and they struggled every game almost and didn't go any further than Kentucky. GO CATS!

People can no longer say Va.'s coach can't win the big one.

That's true, I wish Cal had as much composure as Bennett does. Having more composure doesn't necessarily make a coach better but I think it would be easier on the players. Virginia's players played as hard as any I've seen this year and Bennett wasn't yelling every move at them the whole game. Granted, they had more veterans on the team and may not have been needed to be yelled at. That's about the only gripe I have about Cal, I used to think he wasn't a good game coach and he still makes mistakes because he's not perfect but he's still the best coach for Kentucky.

Since I'm not all that knowledgeable about bb, I may be way off base but I think Cal's strength is in his recruiting and being able to get the players to put their egos aside and play as a team. I'm not that high on his bench coaching.

I was saying on another site that he may be guilty of overthinking things instead of underthinking things, he's admitted to things he should have done during crucial periods of the game. Hindsight is always best, foresight is not so easy. I agree with the recruiting and getting the team to play as a team, I've seen other teams have players doing things for themselves and think I saw it a couple of times on ours. He's at UK as long as he wants to be but if he lets the rumblings from the fan base bother him, he may take a hike. Some have mentioned that he takes it to heart too much about what some fans complain about. He definitely beats upon the reporters at pressers for things they say.

Once again, I may be way off base but I wouldn't consider the world to be coming to an end if he left. I know a lot of fans think he's irreplaceable but I don't agree. When coach Rupp was forced to retire, a lot of people thought that would be the end of UK bb, as we knew it, but it wasn't. No one man is bigger than the program.

Your not off base as far as I'm concerned. A lot of fans suffered when Pitino left and other coaches as well but things continued along. They may have not have been to some's liking but except for Billy G, it was still fun to watch. To me, Cal looks to coach maybe 5 more years, he said the other day he's not coaching into his 70's and the way he attacks coaching, it's got to take its toll.
