They are calling for total and complete evacuation of the entire city of New Orleans. The flooding was nearing the Superdome so they are evacuating those people to the Astrodome in Houston. The mayor has commented that it will take a minimum of 2-3 months before the city is anywhere near back to a regular way of life as far as the bare necessities of living.
On another note it is being reported that some people stranded on top of their houses are now having to deal with sharks in addition to snakes and alligators. Where some of the salt water has mixed in with the freshwater of the lakes and the Mississippi River, it now has brought some sharks in with it. How much more can this city and these people take?
Lets continue to keep New Orleans, its people and the states of Alabama, Mississippi and Florida in our prayers. So many things we talk about on these boards are for fun and enjoyment, this is real life and it makes me thankful for everything that I have!!!

Sharks, alligators and snakes. And it will take 2 months at least to drain the city, that only after they patch the levy breaches. No, it will take New Orleans a hell of a lot longer than 2 to 3 months to recover from this. In this Wolfs humble opinion, our government acted way to slow to help our own people. It is a national disgrace that our own had to go thru what they did.

It is a national disgrace and we can only hope the government will learn from this so they can react faster with the next major disaster. You know that they're coming and they should as well.

I agree it is a total disgrace! I just dont think the people currently in charge of the government will learn because they dont want to learn!
If there would have been an oppurtunity to send some troops somewhere to get some headlines about us showing off some force militarily, I bet we would have gotten there quicker and that is REALLY sad!
