Injuries End Damion Grant's Playing Career. Damion Grant, a 6-11, 260-pound center, will no longer be able to play basketball due to a right ankle injury he suffered in the summer, University of North Carolina head coach Roy Williams announced today. He played in both of Carolina's exhibition games in the Bahamas in early September. "Damion gave it a shot, but it was clear to him after three days of practice and two games that playing this season would be a real struggle," says basketball athletic trainer Marc Davis. To not be able to continue after an injury is even worse, I wish him the best even if it is one of our rivals.

I never like to see anyones career cut short by an injury regardless of who he is or who he plays for!

I still remember the turning point in my infamous career when we were playing this pretty decent team and I had 15 points at halftime and couldn't miss. I stepped on the back of a players foot immediately after the second half tipoff and sprained my ankle so bad that I missed two weeks.
I had always felt that if I had stayed in the game and possibly scored 25 or 30 that it would have given me the confidence needed to go on to the next level. The big what if always haunts a person. That's why I have such a soft spot in my heart for any injury, not just career ending ones.
I also broke my ankle my freshmen year in baseball when I was batting over 500 and missed the district playoffs. I never hit 500 again, the next three years I batted 410, 300 and 385. Oh well, so much for memories.
