Davis believes criticism has taken toll

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Forget about job security, embattled Indiana coach Mike Davis would simply like to see the fans support his players.

Davis, who missed Saturday's game with flu like symptoms, felt well enough Monday to criticize fans and the media for creating the negative environment he believes has sent the Hoosiers into a tailspin.

Say what you want about Davis, his statements ring true to me. These are words that UK fans need to heed as well.

Fans need to realize they are an important part of any team. Negative attitudes can definitely affect the players.

Unfortunately, Davis walked into a situation where he would never meet up to the "Great Bobby Knight". IMO, no matter how well or how poorly this team did under his direction, it could never meet up to the "idolized" status that had been given to Knight.

Davis, IMO, is fighting a losing battle! He is starting to admit it publicly now, the writing is on the wall for him!

Although Tubby has a much better record, following Pitino hasn't been too good for him and is running second in some people's eyes and always will.
