Despite an admittedly longer than expected search process, Murray State athletics director Allen Ward said Monday the school is near the end of its quest to identify it's 14th head men's basketball coach. Yesterday morning, Ward and MSU interim president Dr. Kern Alexander - along with three other members of an appointed search committee - whittled their list of coaching candidates down to three finalists during an on-campus meeting. Sources, however, indicate the three finalists are Ohio State assistant coach John Groce, Miami, Fla., assistant Billy Kennedy and Alabama assistant Philip Pearson.
