Ouch! I don't care at all for Pat Forde, but I can't say that I disagree with him here. I really think it's sad.
I hope that it never comes to that for Kentucky. That would truly be a sad day. I hope that the powers that be would never let it get to that point.

I agree when you change coaches, trade cars or change girlfriends  , you should always at least outwardly make it look like an upgrade. I just dont see it in this. Even in Mike Davis's comments when he resigned its time that everyone was united at the school. Its obvious that hasnt been accomplished! As far as Forde most of the time he is a joke but he is right on in this column, i agree. |

I finally got a chance to see what the IU diehards think about the Sampson hire and it's kind of the same as ours. It's almost like the admin panicked after being turned downed by some (although they deny it) and decided they needed a coach now. The Indy paper said that the gathering to welcome the new coach was as much a defensive feel versus a rally round the new coach type thing which it should have been. He may do well, he'd better.

The heat and the pressure will be on early in this one. I think that the admin and athletic director will be under as much pressure to produce as Sampson!

The feeling I get from the IU fans is a wait and see attitude. It's going to take some production before they warm up to him, especially coming to IU with the NCAA on his butt. Sampson didn't try and deny that he had broken the rules, just that it would never happen again. Something about him is a little different that is for sure. To me I have never been impressed by his teams, their play or his abilities
