There was a time when the University of Kentucky was the program when it came to high school football players across the state. Those days, for now at least, seem to be gone. For various reasons, many of the top prospects in the Bluegrass are looking elsewhere for their football futures. There were six players from Kentucky listed among the nation's Top 500 incoming freshmen in Phil Steele's 2005 College Football Yearbook. All six of them will be attending schools other than UK this fall. More..click hereI'm afraid this trend may continue until UK starts winning or it gets a coach with a more exciting personality and/or game plan.

You hit it right on the head Bubba you either have to win or be exciting! At least to this point, Brooks has not demonstrated the ability to do either. Lets hope that we see some positive steps took this season and no one wants to see it more then me. But with that said I will not be holding my breathe!
FYI, as evidenced by the article and contrary to what a lot of people think there is a lot of home grown football talent in this state. Is there enough to compete in the SEC based soley on winning this state year after year? NO. But as evidenced by our dominating the high school all star game with Tennessee the last 5 or 6 years there is some talent here!

I will agree that winning the KY/Tenn allstar game was big and also UK has gotten some pretty good in-state players recently.
