College football is a brutal, occasionally cold business. Rich Brooks won't be the head coach at Kentucky next year at this time. (statement made by Pete Fiutak) It's nothing against Brooks, but sometimes these things can be seen from 75 miles away (evidenced most recently by Ron Turner lame duck 2004 season at Illinois). Brooks, a curious hire at best three years ago, knows this has to be a miracle season, or at least a bowl bound campaign, to stick around. On the plus side, desperation can sometimes be a good thing. Fox Sports preview of UKThe Bubba's 2 cents: With LSU, Tenn, Georgia and Florida in the top ten, things don't look good. I hadn't heard any statements issued to Brooks like IU made to Mike Davis (basketball) but it very well may be true none the less.

As much as this pains me to say, I think a good show of improvement keeps Brooks job. 4 or 5 wins I think would be good enough to buy him another year. 1 or 2 wins and he might be toast!
