BENCHMARK FOUR MAY HOLD THE KEY By Mark Story HERALD-LEADER SPORTS COLUMNIST We could hire a spiritual medium. And summon the spirits of Descartes, Locke and Rockne. Simultaneously, we could convene one of those "brain power" seminars. And bring to Lexington Bill Gates, Alan Greenspan and Bill Belichick. But even with that arsenal of intelligence, I'm not sure we could solve a dilemma that has vexed the minds of men and women across the ages. How do you consistently win at football at the University of Kentucky while competing in the Southeastern Conference? More..click hereKentucky will be a winner folks, reduced scholarships and a boatload of injuries would humble a lot of teams. Judge this team and coach when it has a full cupboard in schollies and has just a few less injuries.

Bubba I have never judged a Kentucky football coach on wins and losses, it simply isnt fair in the SEC to do that!
With that said if we continue in the direction we are going in and with the current staff this program will take years for ANYONE to get it back to close to respectibility!
We are in the bottom 5 in the country in both offense and in defense! I cant remember the other 4 teams to put on here but we were the only team in both categories! I dont blame the players, but it is time that the coaches. When I say coaches i mean mainly Rich Brooks, to take some responsbility for their job performance

No disrespect intended Bubba, but I am just tired of all the excuses of scholoarship reductions for these guys. 7 wins in two and a half years isnt exactly acceptable even at UK in my book, especially whe you consider only 5 of them against Division 1A opponents.

Just for a far out example, the next time your son gets ready to play a soccer game, just do two things. First, whack him on the big toe of his primary kicking foot with a hammer and Second, stash 1/3 of the players on the team in your back bed room. Then after he fails to play as good as he use to, and the team falters from lack of previous talent, blame the coach. With no disrespect, I'm not saying Brooks is the right man for the job and Barnhart is mainly responsible for a less than appreciable hire but Brooks is our coach and has one hand tied behind him along with his less than admirable coaching style. Spurrier is a fine example of how it is without the proper players. You take away the reputation Spurrier has (which draws talented players), give him a boat load of injuries, limit his talented players (schollies) and see if he wouldn't stumble for three years. Got that hammer ready?

I have considered your points. No Brooks didnt walk into a good situation when he got here. But its time for someone TO GO when these two things that happen.
1) People do not want to even talk about the program!
2) If they are talking about the program they are just making fun of it and laughing at it!
We have been reduced to be a laughing stock even among on our own fans!
Also for everyone who will say well lets give him some time, lets look at this excuse or this reason. To me I would have no problem with that IF, he had done ANYTHING to deserve any time or patience. I see VERY little if ANY hope for ANY improvement in the current situation like it is.

That's almost up there with having a flat tire on the way to work and after jogging three miles, your boss gives you a lengthly butt chewing and doesn't want to hear any excuses about the flat tire. The hidden reason behind the butt chewing is that he doesn't like your extended coffee breaks and the amount of time you spend on the internet. Got that hammer ready?

The flat tire would be right up there , except the fact that Brooks makes about $700,000 a year more then the average employee does. Its a fact that in most cases the more that is given the more that is expected. Unless you are Rich Brooks that is. If I had a hammer I'd use it on our game plans over the last 3 years!
