Kentucky football coaches and fans certainly make their case for being on the wrong end of more than a handful of questionable calls over the years. Relief for this long-suffering group appears to be on the way. For the 2005 football season, the NCAA rules committee is allowing several varying systems to implement video replay, as determined by each conference or independent institution. The Southeastern Conference will follow the blueprint of the Big Ten, which tested out instant replay in league games last fall. An extra official in the press box will decide if a play needs to be reviewed by buzzing the officials on the field. Unlike the NFL, coaches will not be allowed to challenge calls.
