Having spent all summer dodging the long knives, Rich Brooks started the football season with a special announcement yesterday. "My demise has been greatly exaggerated," the Kentucky coach said at his first weekly news conference. "I'm still talkin,' walkin,' and alive, by golly." Poor Brooks. Let's face it, he hasn't felt much love in his two prior years with us here in the commonwealth. Then again, a coach going 6-17 with no signature wins isn't exactly going to make a fan base swoon. Still, as UK counts down toward year three of the Brooks regime -- which kicks off Sunday against heavily favored Louisville -- there is a compelling case to be made that this should NOT be Brooks' final year at UK. More..click hereThere is a lot of truth being said about giving Brooks a decent chance. You can't tie one of a persons hands behind them and expect them to win the championship. I feel Brooks has made some good decisions with naming his assistant coaches and with nearing full strength with his schollies is going to make us proud if we just give the guy a chance.

Bubba I am going to surprise you and agree for the most part. I think a good showing this year and we will have a shot at a really good year next year! I think there could be some light at the end of the tunnel, BUT and its a big BUT. There has to be some progress made this year. I dont mean they have to go to a bowl or that type of thing. But, they have to get some excitement generated, some confidence built and some positive momentum going! If we start going downhill early this year, i am afraid the damage may be unrepairable. GO CATS!!!!

I will agree with you also and do expect the Cats to show decent improvement. Glad to see your optimism changing back into the black.
