John Clay HERALD-LEADER Tubby Googled it. His team once beaten and found three times wanting, Kentucky's basketball coach struck up the search engine last night. A third straight new starting lineup was unveiled. Differing combinations were tried. Buttons were pushed. Search and ye shall find. In the search for a hot hand, up popped Patrick Sparks, the senior guard who tossed in 25 points. In the search for poise, the Cats played with their brains. In the search for defense, a little-used zone muted the Mountaineers. More..click hereLet's all hope things work out for Woo and Shag as well, I hate to see them on the pine all season. I thought besides the zone, our man to man looked better as well. Did it seem that way to you all. I guess if WV had hit a few more 3's, we wouldn't be talking like this would we?

Bubba - Sorry to be responding to this so late but I've been traveling out of the country and just got back. I think a zone in the early season is genius. Remember the 3-pt line is deeper ... just enough different that it throws marginal outside shooters off. Pittsnoggle wasn't going to be thrown off if you pushed it out to NBA range, but it bothered the rest of the WVU shooters, imo.
That Tubby is one smart cookie!

It really looked good and I hope that it wasn't just a fluke and works later on in the season. Tubby has a plan and knows what he's doing.

I heard a comment about Steve Spurrier last week that I truly believe fits Tubby as well. He can beat you with his players, and then he could take your players and beat you with them. In other words he may tinker sometimes and maybe it does cost us an early season win here and there, but he figures out the best way to utilize his talent and get the most out of it!
