Unrestrained criticism There's nothing new to this. Fans have always fumed during down times. But the Internet has given the grousing the power of the published word. Fans now aren't just fans, they're commentators. And where mainstream voices measure comments for responsibility and restraint (believe it or not), there's no such filter with fans. Click here: www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070223/COLUMNISTS02/702230489/1029/SPORTS03I've said many times before it became common knowledge that recruits and players read things being said about them and their coach. I had a slight argument with Mike Williams of KSR several years ago about whether players read message boards. He pretty much scoffed at the idea but I'm pretty sure he's a believer now. Kids are no different than a lot of us in the fact that they like to know what's going on. They and we like to read about who is going where and how their/our team played and what the sports people and message boards have to say about them. it's human nature and the fans on the internet need to understand that and shape up. The bad thing is, to me it seems that the ones that complain the most usually have the personality for endurance in doing so. Positive thinkers seem to not want to engage in verbal combat as much as the naysayers. The last statement is an observation of mine and open for debate.
