UK backs off former Gamecocks recruit

Kentucky is no longer recruiting one-time South Carolina signee Chad Gray, spokesman Scott Stricklin said yesterday.

That seemed to put Gray on the lengthy list of forward prospects who've eluded UK's grasp in recent years. But maybe it put him in a much shorter group of players pursued but then considered forbidden fruit for Southeastern Conference teams.

I've read some reasons why UK has pulled back from recruiting Gray but don't see the need to list them. They more than likely had a good reason.

I have heard that his academic status may be questionable, and I have heard that he may just be considered a role player.
I don't know how much is true.

For whatever reasons, he isn't coming to UK.
