Northside claims 4A crown
LAFAYETTE — The Northside High players aimed the basketball towards the top of the Cajundome on Saturday night, a symbolic gesture that also captured an historic moment in Lafayette Parish basketball history.
Northside’s 67-54 defeat of Ouachita Parish in the Class 4A championship game not only gave the Vikings the first basketball title in school history, but it also was the first for any parish public school team since the state basketball tournament began in Shreveport 45 years ago.
