Mickie DeMoss today became the first coach in University of Kentucky women's basketball history to be named Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year. DeMoss, in her third season at UK, received the award by a vote of league coaches. "It's an honor to be recognized by your peers for your hard work and accomplishments," said DeMoss, who has a 49-40 record at UK. "But it all boils down to the players buying into what you want them to do. You can know all the basketball in the world, but if your team can't commit to play hard and play together, then all that basketball doesn't mean much. ... I have to give my players and support staff and everybody a lot of credit." More..click hereA great gal and very deserving of the award. She brings much class to the table at UK. Once while eating breakfast at the Hyatt with 96 and our wives, DeMoss was eating with several people in the upper level. When she left I noticed it was her and waved, she waved back like the good old country girl she is, bless her heart. Hats off to Mickie, lets hope she's here to stay.

It is definitely an asset to UK having Mickie on board. A college's reputation and character are a big part of the picture. This lady brings that and demands it of her staff and players.
Congratulations to Mickie!!
