University of Kentucky junior Samantha Mahoney was named today to the All-Southeastern Conference second team in pre-season voting by the league's women's basketball coaches
Mahoney, a 5-foot-10 guard from Detroit, is the leading returning scorer on a Kentucky team that advanced to the second round of last season's NCAA Tournament. Mahoney averaged 11.2 points and 5.9 rebounds and started 26 games for the 22-9 Wildcats. With 701 career points, Mahoney has a chance to become the 25th member of the UK women's 1,000-point club this season.
