Tennessee fires Basketball coach

Evidently UT didn't do enough research when hiring Donnie Tyndall. Oh well, maybe they will do better with their next hire. Word on the street is possibly the AD position opening up because of the bad hire of Tyndall. Coaching college sports or any sport in general is a shaky career at best for most folks, only the better ones or honest ones survive for a long period of time. Heck of a life.

UT is so down right now, I don't know of any quality coach that would touch the job. Bama is aggressively pursuing Wichita State's coach, but I can't see him being interested in that job. Barnes, from Texas, is on his way out the door, so I expect Marshall to be interested in that job, if he's looking to leave WS.

Bama has offered Marshall a basket full of money, that's for sure.

What I'm hearing is that Bama may as well forget about Marshall. Word is that if Marshall leaves WS, it'll be to replace Rick Barnes at Texas. I'm also hearing that Tennessee is making a push for Barnes, and that he may be considering it since his wife is a UT grad. Stay tuned.

Barnes wouldn't take the UK job but he will take the UT job...hmmm. It's amazing what being fired will do to one's choices. Having said that, I would guess that a lot of well known coaches would not want to take on the most consuming and highly criticized job in college basketball such as UK.
