We have a rabbit that's been a regular around our yard for a while now and as I was seeing my wife off yesterday, I spotted it in the front yard. This is probably the same one that used to hide in my corrugated roof drain but not any more. I say that because this rabbit has gotten huge, at least 5 to 7 pounds. Anyway, while watching the rabbit, it started scratching itself with its back leg like a dog does. The funny part about this story, (at least to me) is the two times that the rabbit started to scratch itself, it fell over on its side (either out of shape, uncoordinated or just plain too fat) I'm sure there are other reasons why it could have fallen over but I like these three. I'd have to say, I've never seen anything like that before, it gave me a pretty good chuckle. I guess I've always given too much credit to animals in the wild for being coordinated when it appears they may be just a tad less than I had thought. Still not quite as uncoordinated as us humans though.

Watching animals, both domestic and wild, can be very funny and very entertaining as well. We live adjacent to a section of the Daniel Boone Nat'l Forest. Coons come around multiple times daily and help themselves to the cats' food. We also see lots of birds and squirrels. For the past several weeks, there had been a couple of wild turkeys roaming around in the yard, but I haven't seen them in over a week.

I'm sure living that close to a national forest is very satisfying for a nature lover, you are a lucky guy. We live close to a marshland that was man made, it was just opened recently. Folks come from all over to look at the different types of birds. We personally see our share of wildlife that wander through our back yard and even up on our decks. We see Coyotes, possums, raccoons, deer, rabbits, skunks, snapping turtles (one as big as the rim on an automobile)and of course we have at least 6 to 8 squirrels playing in our oak trees next to the house. It's fun to watch them all.
