I would imagine the amount of losses this season was just too much "for Captain Hatband" It still felt good to get him one more time before he retired. There are a lot of names popping up for the job, I wouldn't think Lane Kiffin would be in the running being that he was the OC. This will be an interesting hire.

I'm hearing that the first choice of every school in the country, that has a vacancy, is Chip Kelly. I'm hearing So. Car.'s second choice is Bobby Petrino. Charlie Strong is supposed to be number five.

I would not be surprised if Bobby Petrino gets the job. If their first choice, Chip Kelly, decides to leave the NFL and return to college football he'll head for the West Coast, in my opinion.

It wouldn't surprise me if Petrino were to be hired, Charlie Strong would be a good choice to me. It seems to me that a big name might be needed to keep South Carolina from going downhill. It wouldn't surprise me either to see Spurrier sign with another school or even go pro.

You could be right, Bubba, but I'm not sure. Coach Spurrier was 70 this past April which means he would be 71 before another fb season rolls around. Also, he tried the NFL once, and was an abysmal failure. I'd say the grind of all the travel that goes with recruiting and away games may have factored into his decision to retire. Also, he's an avid golfer, and now he can golf all he wishes. I guess only time will tell for sure.

I would imagine coaching a college football or basketball team is very demanding as you implied, it has to be tough. I know I wouldn't feel like doing it.

It's looking as if Will Muschamp is going to be the next HC at So. Car. Considering that he couldn't cut it at UF, I find this to be surprising to say the least. Someone said that he and Spurrier are good friends and that Spurrier has recommended him for the job. Perhaps this will turn out the way it did for UK when coach Brooks recommended Joker to succeed him.
