I think this is the latest I've ever done that. I'll probably get sick again. I told my wife It's the last time regardles of how deep they get. I do it mainly to keep them out of my ditch so they won't plug my culvert. I plan on doing my gutters hopefully for the last time tomorrow.

I quit about three weeks ago. I don't have any culverts and we have gutter guards on the gutters. Actually, I don't think I needed to mulch again. The yard looks pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Well I was going to blow out the gutters today but it's going to have to wait a few days until it warms up a bit. It was downright cold today. I've been leaning toward getting some kind of gutter guards but not the expensive kind. They said they would have to drop my gutters quite a bit to get them on. I saw some mesh ones that looked like they would keep most stuff out on this one house. I just need to do the bi-level and a small one above the lower deck. It's still a hassle getting up on the roof with a large blower though and I need to quit putting it off. It just seems I'm always 10 jobs behind and can't remember to do it. I was fussing at my wife recently to make a to do list because she's been overloaded with the closing of her business, I guess I need to heed my own advice and get my to do list started. I had one a while back and did pretty good with it, it does help one to remember things that need to be done.

When I get more than two or three projects backlogged, I start a list. It keeps me from forgetting something and also I seem to accomplish more if I'm organized instead of going at my projects helter skelter. There's several kinds of gutter guards you can buy at places like Lowes. We have the mesh ones that come in sections. They're not hard to put on, and work pretty good.

Just an update, I actually broke my old record and mulched leaves again about a week later because it had warmed up a bit. I've really worked hard this year trying to keep my ditch from getting overloaded but when you've got a neighbor that doesn't weed eat his ditch but four times a year and doesn't even consider mulching at all, it makes it tough. I not only get it from my big oaks but from both sides. Even though my property is a corner lot so to speak, there is a row of oaks between me and this farmland that loads me up too. I'm going to have to come up with some way to shield my ditch or get it filled in. I'm almost afraid to get it completely filled with my neighbor being so irresponsible. I'm getting too old to keep this up much longer, something has got to give.

Is there any way you could take some kind of fence wire and cover the ditch and anchor it to the ground with tent stakes or something similar? Kind of like gutter guard for a ditch. You could even remove it and store it in the late spring through early fall.

I've thought of that Sandman and maybe I'll figure out how to do that next fall. I've definitely got to do something.
