It's getting into the area of warmish days with crisp nights, which lets me know that we are in the grasp of the fall strangle hold or holt for my Kentucky friends. I wore myself out today trying to take advantage of the warmer temperatures, trying to get my to do list whittled down. I'm not doing too bad but should have started a few weeks ago. Oh well, what can I say, you do what you feel like doing and to heck with the rest. BTW, I still say holt and an occasional orta for ought to at least once a year. I'm still a western Kentucky boy with deep down home country upbringings and will never forget it.

I'm loving the fall weather, although it got a little cool here last night (25). I just wish I could get rid of the leaf mulching. I figure about four more weeks should do it. There'll still be leaves falling after that, but hopefully not that many. I just quit when I get too tired of doing it.

I'm usually mulching leaves until it gets a bit too cold and then I'm done, regardless of how many are left. It usually lasts until the end of November and has gone into December a few times. I finally had some gutter screens put in so I won't have to deal with the clean out chore so often. I'm getting too banged up to do that anymore. It seems I can hardly do anything lately that doesn't cause a pulled muscle or too much soreness. I unloaded my truck full of gravel Friday after weed eating the ditch and was barely able to do anything until Sunday afternoon.

I mulched yesterday. I'm planning on two, perhaps three, more times and I'm calling it quits.

Most of the leaves are on the ground but I have my big Oaks still clinging to almost half of theirs. I'm hoping for about three more times on the mower.
