College players declare for several reasons but to me, it all comes down to mostly money. Mostly for their families and second, to play in the NBA.

I agree. Not all, but most of these players seem to come from less than affluent backgrounds. When interviewed, most of the ones I've seen say the first thing they are going to do is buy momma a house and/or let momma quit work.

A stipend would be nice but it would probably be abused by some.
