Didn't get to watch the game but saw where several were debating whether to score the last touchdown vs taking a knee. I think it was probably wise to take a knee to lessen the risk of a player getting injured but others wanted a bigger margin of victory. I would imagine Spurrier would have gone for the TD but that's because he's a butt. Southern Miss either played their hearts out or UK may not have taken them as seriously as they should have. Maybe some of both?

I watched the game, Bubba, and my opinion is that we're not a very good team at this point in time. We lost three good receivers (one to graduation, one to a transfer and one to injury) from last year's team. The big TE, Conrad, was about the only bright spot, as far as pass catching, Sat. Graduation and injury has weakened the oline from what it was last season as well. Unless someone, other than Snell, steps up, in a hurry, people are going to see how valuable Boom was to last year's team. Finally, I can't see that the QB, Johnson, has improved much, if any, from last season. The bright spots are that the def., especially the front seven, and special teams play is vastly improved. Some of the opinions that I've read, on another site, are that the coaching staff was holding back Sat. I'm calling bs on that. Midway through the fourth qtr. the outcome was still in doubt. Our backs were against the wall and we were back on our heels mainly because the def. was worn down from being on the field so much. This was a game we needed to win badly, and if the coaching staff could have added an insurance score, I feel they would have done so.

Sorry to hear all of the negativity, I thought this year's team was supposed to take a step up.

I think we all got early hopes up, based on how the O line finished the year. This isn't the same group though, and it takes the big guys a few games to get their sync. Team has to find somewhere to run other than the middle. Wide receivers have to grow up faster. Conrad and Hart CAN be HUGE contributors. The secondary has to live up to their hype, but playing ten yards off any receiver doesn't help anyone. The front seven....marvelous improvement for the first game. Special teams.....is this really the same group that was on the field last season? ? Wow...what a difference. Let's not forget some things: I don't know what team UK beat in the first game away from home. Southern Miss has a running back and two wide receivers that are a change of uniform from getting national pub. Put Ito Smith in a Georgia or Alabama uniform. Put those hideouts in UCLA colors. They had some talent. Their d line was larger and stronger than last year. UK is not 'there' yet. It's a whole lot closer than it was three or four years ago.

Thanks from me as well Bill for stopping by, good to hear others opinions. I will be sure to watch this next game and give opinions that I see. This team has to shape up quickly if they are to be victorious from what I'm seeing from other SEC teams we are supposed to beat.
