Luke Heyer and T.J. Collett each homered and drove in two runs Saturday and Kentucky got a strong start from Zack Thompson en route to a 7-2 win over Sam Houston State on Saturday at the Shriners College Classic in Houston. Heyer, a senior infielder/outfielder, raised his batting average to .412 and clubbed his team-leading seventh home run of the season. Collett added his sixth long ball for the No. 7 Wildcats (10-1). Kentucky's 11-hit day also included a pair of hits by Ben Aklinski and an RBI triple by Luke Becker. Thompson (2-0) worked six scoreless innings on the mound. The sophomore left-hander allowed only four hits and struck out seven. Kentucky will wrap up the three-day event at Minute Maid Park, the home of the World Series champion Houston Astros, on Sunday at noon ET against Louisiana. kentucky.rivals.com/news/recap-kentucky-40
