I was noticing that a decent cold front was going from Minnesota to North Carolina. It's colder here but just rain, no snow or ice. It's supposed to be up near 60 by Tuesday and I can hardly wait. I've got the I want to get some work done outside fever.

It's a little cooler here than I would like, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not looking forward to mowing, but you have to take the bad with the good.

My grass has already started growing but it will be at least two weeks before it gets warm enough and dry enough for me to mow.

My grass is growing also. I don't have my mower serviced yet. I've been waiting until it gets warm enough so I can do it outside. Invariably, when I service it in the garage, there's some spillage and I make a mess on the garage floor. It's suppose to be in the 50's tomorrow night. Perhaps I can get it done before the rain, they're forcasting, for Wed. arrives.

I usually do mine indoors just so my neighbor can't see me making a mess.

I love it when people tell me things I like to hear. I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday afternoon and we were discussing mowers and mowing. We both have Craftsman mowers. Mine has a bigger engine than his and is newer (his is about 20 years old and mine is 10 or ll years old), plus his yard is bigger than mine. The guy is mechanically minded (he does a lot of work on his vehicles that many people have done by a pro) and he told me he doesn't service his mower every year. As soon as I heard that, my eyes lit up. I did a full service on mine last spring except for the air filter and pre-filter. I took the blower and blew the dust off of them several times last summer. So, I'm going to lube mine, check the blades and put a new air filter and pre-filter on it and skip changing the oil and oil filter this year.

I change the oil and filter once a year, clean the air filter at least once if not two times a year depending on how dry the weather has been. On my air filter, it has a foam wrapper around the paper filter, I've wrapped another foam piece around that and also placed a larger foam piece over the carb compartment a bit larger than the lid. It keeps my carb area a lot cleaner longer and the motor doesn't seem to mind it at all. I take them all off, rinse them in gasoline, place oil on the first two filters after they're dry, blot them on paper towels and place them back in their respective places. I've got a Husqvarna that's about 10 years old.
I've been thinking about getting a front engine John Deere and using my Husqvarna zero turn as a backup. The zero turn beats me to death and in certain parts of my yard, if it's too wet it goes where it wants to. I forgot to mention that with so many layers of protection on my air filters, I haven't had to replace it for three or four years now. I take it off and give it a visual and if I can see pretty good daylight, it stays on the mower.

I mowed, for the first time this season, today. It's currently 62 degrees here in Corbin town. We have a prediction of 1-3 inches of snow and sleet mix for tomorrow. Oh well, this can't last forever.

Crazy weather for sure.

I don't know how accurate the weather forecasts are up your way, Bubba, but they're practically useless down here. As recently as early this morning, they were giving like a 70% chance of a snow and sleet mix with accumulations of 1-3 inches. Now they've changed it to a 10% chance of snow showers. If they're going to miss it though, I'd rather they miss it the way they did instead of the other way around.

It's the same here Sandman, the forecast changes daily and sometimes hourly. I'm going to try and mow Thursday and haven't serviced the mower yet(too cold). Besides that, I've been down in my back and my right knee has been acting up. I'm going to have to get it in gear tomorrow. BTW, it snowed last night but was gone this morning. The wife and me still have to rake the yard which takes a good 3 to 4 hours before I can mow Thursday. I would wait and mow Friday but the wind is supposed to be 20 mph or more. Hopefully, I can get it done without any incidents.
