a RIGHT of BIRTH as being a Kentucky fan to go to the final four! It is simple as that. There are great players everywhere, every year. To me making the final four is a pleasure something to revel in and hold special. Thats what makes it so special when you get there. I dont get there, and say by golly we are here now but what about all the times we should have been here but werent!! We as UK fans are brought up to think we hold the monopoly on good basketball and on tradition that simply isnt true. We do have the best of everything but that doesnt mean we are SUPPOSE to have anything!!
Let me say this, NO ONE wants to win more then I do. NO ONE knows more about our tradition or has more pride in our program then I do!!!
The fact of the matter is this TUBBY SMITH is our coach he is one of the top 4 or 5 in the country, you take a poll of the other 49 states in our country his name will be mentioned in the top 5 by 90 percent of them! Basically Kentucky is the only state where he isnt respected!! You take away Duke, Uconn, Mich. State, UNC, Arizona and UofL how many schools can you name that wouldnt trade coaches with us?
Worse case scenario we lose 10 games or more this year we dont go to the final four? So do we fire Tubby? OK, lets say we do run him off, who do we bring in to replace him? Who can we get to come who would be better??? I will be listening for any suggestions? There is no one no one else of the elite coaches who is going to leave their program to come here?
It is a fact it was a bad loss for our team and our program, but it never ceases to amaze me the speed at which some of our suppporters want to jump on and off the ship depending on the result of the last game!!

Growing up in the pitino era i was used to us winning and seeing the final four but it seems like the past few years that UK is fading, the fans are not as wild, our players are not in that great of shape, our players are playing out of there positions. I like Tubby as a coach, I would like to see him get up off the bench every once in a while instead of staring players down, like that does any good. A player that is scoring at will would be took out of the game if he shoots the ball wrong. Jeff i can name one coach that i would like to see here if Tubby was fired. (Pat Riley) and well of course Pitino.

I agree. Tubby will always take the most criticism from the majority of fans because it comes with the territory but I think the players need to be held as accountable. With or without Morris if our players don't play smart and commit to what Tubby wants on the court it is a lost cause anyway. Rondo in particular look disinterested and Sims looked slow and sluggish. We have very little margin for error to overcome poor performances by our marquee players. In my opinion Tubby did everything in his power to shake the team out of the doldrums and the team overall did not respond. Remember we do not have a Chuck Hayes to feed off of this year, give the team enough time to find its identity and its leader, it will happen!

At the game Tubby stomped his foot and you could hear it all over Rupp and once he almost walked out to the free throw lane to chastise some players. I think he was in to the game.

Riley would be interesting, dont think it would happen. As far as Pitino, not sure about that one. You wonder if he has burned too many bridges.

I had something saved on my computer about Riley saying he would love to coach the cats but he said Tubby is doing a good job and said he will be there for a while. Riley also said that the wildcats would be the only place he would ever coach! and pitino, tell me you wouldnt have him back?

If Tubby left, sure I would be interested in either. But at the moment and probably for a long time to come, we have a coach and a pretty good one at that.

My post starting with "I agree" was meant for the UK9698 post. How many times has Pitino won it since he left? No, I would not trade Tubby for Pitino or Riley.

Pitino and Kentucky clicked together! I am tired of everyone acting like Tubby is this god or something, he is a good coach but Pitino was better hands down

When Tubby leaves, I would like to see Pelphrey coach the Cats. He will have enough mileage by then.

No, but it is a right for Uk to have a coach that knows how to get to the final four. Not a coach that sets the UK record for years without one. The excuse makers get their cues from Tubby. This post looks like it could have been written by Tubby himself.
